  1. Using Anger to Serve Life

    Using Anger to Serve Life

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 2/29/2020

Trainer Tip: Sometimes we need to empathize with a person before he can hear our anger. Consider that all anger is an expression of an unmet need. If we focus on the need, rather than the actions, we are more likely to connect compassionately with other people. Be aware of opportunities to empathize with someone’s anger today.

  2. Love Trumps Everything

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 5/30/2021

Trainer Tip: When looking for a solution take the time to consider and connect to other's needs rather than just focusing on getting what you want. Such a basic shift in consciousness can make a profound difference in your relationships, both personal and professional. Notice how you feel afterward.

  3. Staying in the Present

    Staying in the Present

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 7/5/2021

Trainer Tip: Usually if we are in anguish, it’s because we’re not in the present. Instead of worrying, look to see if there is an action you can take in the present moment that will help change the situation. If you're fretting about the past, see if there's anything you can do to rectify the situation. Then take action. Read on for examples.

  4. Read on for a demonstration of self empathy -- all generated within the context of both the COVID-19 pandemic, and the changes to Bridget's life that have arisen as a result.

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 10/3/2021

We all love to contribute to others’ lives. We love to offer support because it meets our own needs for contribution, love, caring, and making a difference. 6. Acting in Accordance With Our Values

Acting in Accordance With Our Values

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 10/21/2021

Trainer Tip: Your every action has an effect on other people’s lives. The nature of the impact may not be obvious to us, but that doesn’t diminish its presence. The next time you are tempted to snap at someone or cut in front of another driver, consider whether you’d like to be their story that evening. Consider whether this is the kind of contribution you’d like to make to their life.

  7. You’re Not Too Much

    You’re Not Too Much

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 12/11/2021

Trainer Tip: We all have the same needs, but may prioritize different needs at different times -- and that order of prioritization may look different from other people's perspectives. If your prioritization of needs isn't the same as another's, that doesn't mean there's something wrong with you nor them. We can look for many ways to meet our prioritized needs.

  8. Keeping Our Perspective

    Keeping Our Perspective

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 5/7/2022

Trainer Tip: We all want to be valued in our totality, to be loved even when we make mistakes. Wouldn’t we also like to offer this to ourselves? Compassion is about seeing the humanness in everyone, including ourselves. One way to express compassion is to remember your entire relationship and history of love with someone as a whole, rather than focusing on one disappointing incident.

  9. Living Our Values

    Living Our Values

    Mary Mackenzie

    Trainer Tips · 1 - 2 minutes · 4/10/2022

Trainer Tip: Sometimes I wish others would make it easy for me to live my values. If other people would just do their part, I wouldn’t have to work so hard at doing mine. Can you relate? However, if I support peace in the world, this means I act peacefully because it’s important to me, not because it’s important to others. Identify your most important value today. Then live it. Notice how healing this can feel even just after one day.
