Are you seeking a deeper understanding of discrimination and how it affects your life and those around you?
In this one-session recording, Mary Mackenzie begins to peel back the varying layers of advantage and disadvantage, and how it affects one's life experience. For instance, a middle-class brown woman in the United States will have a different set of advantages and disadvantages than a lower-income white woman.
Mary begins this course recording with a short and compelling video by Civil Rights Leader Kimberlé Crenshaw who coined the term intersectionality. This term is used to refer to the complex and cumulative manner in which the effects of different forms of discrimination (such as racism, sexism, and classism) combine, overlap, and yes, intersect—especially in the experiences of marginalized people or groups.
Following this powerful video will be several small group discussions, which are intended to deepen connections and learning.
Purchase this video recording and you could raise your awareness and increase compassion for yourself and others.
