But it is important to remember that there are countless ways to meet any need. When we limit the options available to us, we limit our opportunities. Often, when we are angry with another person, we want them to hear us. But they may not be willing or able to hear us. Still, we keep going back to them and receiving the same response. We won’t meet our need, though, because it doesn’t occur to us to ask elsewhere. If you find yourself in a situation like this, consider going to another person who is more likely to hear you. You may be surprised how healing this can be. When we are open to all the possibilities available to us, we become more successful at meeting our needs and living happier lives.
