Trainer Tip: Find ways to celebrate each day and enrich your life. Trainer Tip You need only claim the events of your life to make yourself yours. —Florida Scott-Maxwell I used to think that celebrations were only in order when something big occurred, such as a birthday, graduation, or wedding. Consequently, I didn’t celebrate very often, and I frequently wondered if my situations warranted celebration. I often felt unworthy. Now, I see that all of life is worth celebrating. Driving through Seattle without being caught in a traffic jam is worthy of a celebration. Spending a weekend on the Washington coast with two days of clear, sunny weather is too. Writing the 333rd meditation for this book is reason to celebrate! I meet my need for celebration in a variety of ways. I might call a friend and share my happiness, or thank my higher power for creating weather that I can enjoy, or I might plan a party. The critical factor is remembering to celebrate the small things as well as the big things in life. That way we stay connected to what is working in our lives and to our gratitude. For today, make a conscious effort to celebrate at least one thing that works in your life.
