DESCRIPTION

Calling everyone who wants to see NVC support deeper change in the world— at a time when equity and justice are integral to the healing and changes that so many of us long for.

Do you strive to bring more effective systemic change through NVC? Maybe you have been experimenting with and practicing this—would you like to meet with others who are doing the same?

Are you unsure what systemic change actually means and looks like in NVC?

Do you need more support, expansion, and inspiration in your ‘systemic NVC’ journey?

Sarri Bater and Sophie Docker believe that all environmental, social and personal struggles are interlinked and the necessary paradigm shift happens when their shared origins are revealed. By meeting the roots of disconnection together in increased awareness, people can begin to access more honest, equitable, and effective NVC responses.

Everyone has basic needs for survival (like food, water and shelter) and for happiness (like being loved, respected and fulfilled). And while society has systems in place to help people meet these needs, the reality is that those systems are biased. They tend to favor white people and make it difficult for people of color to have access to resources. This disparity exists everywhere. Awareness is key: after all, before something can be improved, it must be acknowledged.

This course will help you refine your approach to practicing and teaching NVC with a focus on equity. You will get clearer on why proactive engagement with a systemic lens is crucial, and have the opportunity to discuss your approach and learn from like-minded practitioners. You can look forward to tools, support, and inspiration to bring that lens to individual experience.

This course is for you if you…

  • Have been committed to making NVC more systemically transformative and nonviolent and would like support with it
  • Are new to ‘NVC with a systemic lens’ and need more understanding on what this actually means
  • Have a sense that NVC without a lens of equity and justice cannot be fully equitable
  • Are interested in/are experimenting with NVC’s capacity to address the lack of equity in our society
  • Feel uneasy in spaces that offer NVC without acknowledging power dynamics, identity, difference and systemic issues
